Who Beanflow calculates vacation for in Ontario

Beanflow automatically calculates Ontario’s standard employment-standards vacation. Some sales roles are outside that automatic path, and the employer has to confirm coverage before the employee can be added to a pay group.

What this page is for

  • Use it when Beanflow asks you to confirm that this employee follows Ontario’s standard vacation rules.
  • This is product coverage, not a full employment-standards manual. Statutory rates and official sources live on the employment-standards reference.
  • Company industry, employment type, occupation, and WCB classification do not decide this.

Confirm coverage when

  • Office, retail, warehouse, and other employees covered by Ontario’s ordinary vacation rules.
  • Inside sales employees who work at the employer’s workplace, even if some pay is commission.
  • Managers and staff whose vacation follows the standard Employment Standards Act rule.

Do not confirm coverage when

Outside commissioned salesperson

Do not confirm coverage if this person ordinarily works away from the employer’s place of business and is paid entirely or partly by commission. That is a worker-level rule. It is not the same as “any employee who earns commission.”

Company type is not enough

A sales company can still have employees who follow ordinary Ontario vacation rules. Company type, job title, and commission on a pay stub do not decide this. Confirm the person, not the industry.

If you cannot confirm

Do not add this employee to a Beanflow pay group for automatic statutory vacation. Beanflow will not switch to a different vacation formula. Outstanding vacation for an unsupported role has to be handled outside this automatic path.
